Local Power Hawai'i

Local Power Hawaiʻi is a coalition of community organizations, advocates, business leaders and residents working to ensure Hawaiʻi’s energy future is controlled locally rather than by foreign fossil fuel interests or volatile global commodity markets.

The coalition supports a transition to 100% renewable energy that protects ratepayers, strengthens energy independence and expands investment in locally generated power and opposes proposals that would lock the state into decades of imported liquefied natural gas dependence — including a multi-billion-dollar LNG power plant proposed for Oʻahu by JERA, which critics say advanced without meaningful public input, legislative approval or binding consumer protections.
