It’s time for renewable, independent energy — by and for Hawaiʻi.
Local Power, Local Benefit.
Who We Are
Local Power Hawaiʻi is a coalition of community members, organizations, advocates, and businesses united to shift Hawaiʻi's energy decisions into the hands of our community and away from outside corporations, fossil fuel interests, or global commodity markets.
We stand for something simple: Hawaiʻi's future should be shaped by the people who live here.
The decisions that determine what our communities look and feel like — what we pay to keep the lights on, who owns our resources, how we build resilience in the face of a changing climate — should belong to us.
What We Believe In
Hawaiʻi families pay the highest energy costs in the nation, because weʻre dependent on outside interests.
We know there’s a better way.
-
We believe Hawaiʻi communities should own their energy — not foreign interests.
-
We know renewable, Hawaiʻi-powered energy brings the lowest costs to residents.
Stay local, save plenty.
-
A clean, distributed grid built by and for the people of Hawaiʻi will lower our bills while creating resilience, reliability, and local jobs. With LNG and other fossil fuels, every dollar of profit leaves Hawaiʻi communities.
